@drcameronjones This video will show you a few warning signs of a sick building. It has been claimed that indoor environments have become more dangerous since the 1970's due to an increase in more energy efficient housing linked to a variety of symptoms and illnesses through poor indoor air quality. The most frequent environmental health problem clinicians face is the health impacts of indoor environments. Non-industrial indoor environments (like homes) are believed to have caused a variety of symptoms and illnesses and are classified by the acronym, SBS which is short for 'sick building syndrome'. In addition to upper-respiratory irritative symptoms, headaches, tiredness, and rashes, SBS can be defined as non-specific complaints that happen in a particular building and are not caused by a specific illness. The symptoms of SBS are non-specific, which means that they occur in a specific building as opposed to a specific illness such as hypersensitivity pneumonitis or infection. SBS symptoms are common and include eye irritation, throat irritation, cough, headaches, lack of concentration, shortness of breath, cough, wheezing, rash, pruritus, dryness, enhanced or abnormal odour perception, and visual disturbances. Mould is one of the contributors to SBS but breakdown fragments from water damaged materials which contain formaldehyde and other chemicals is also a likely contributor. When in doubt about your home or any home that has suffered extended water damage, then get your air quality checked and mould counts measured. Like and follow for more.
